Job Summary

The Knowledge Management Attorney (KMA) Lead is responsible for managing the organization, collection, creation, and delivery of knowledge management assets for the Private Capital Transactions (PCT) practice group. The role will involve the development of efficiencies in capturing our internal knowledge and evolving that knowledge into thought leadership to enable our lawyers to operate at the highest level.

The KMA Lead will support the delivery of a broad portfolio of knowledge services for the PCT Practice including the monitoring of legal, market and regulatory developments, the preparation of communications and tailored thought leadership pieces for clients, the creation of standard forms and guidance notes, and the collation and organization of precedent with a goal to further enhance the PCT Practice’s strong profile as a market leader in the industry.

This role involves maintaining the firm’s experience databases, developing guidelines and best practices for knowledge contribution and retrieval, supporting training programs, and coordinating with other practice groups and business support departments. The attorney acts as a technical legal resource, stays updated on industry developments, and promotes a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Knowledge Management Attorney, will be expected to:

  • Identify, collect, and organize precedent and work products for the Private Capital Transactions Practice in knowledge management databases.
  • Create and maintain intranet sites for easy access to the practice's know-how.
  • Maintain the firm’s experience databases; develop and maintain guidelines, protocols, and best practices for knowledge contribution and retrieval.
  • Support training programs through participation in setting the curriculum and preparing training materials.
  • Coordinate with other practice groups on relevant data (e.g., executive compensation, public M&A, tax).
  • Provide technical legal support for queries related to Private Capital Transactions matters.
  • Stay current with legal industry developments as well as industry sector developments and integrate relevant information into the knowledge base.
  • Oversee the capture of tacit knowledge and convert it into explicit resources, such as knowledge articles, documents, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with legal professionals and business leaders to identify knowledge gaps and create content to address these needs.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the department.
  • Pair information with insight to equip partners with vital knowledge and drive new business initiatives.
  • Mine resources to create intelligence briefings, compile competitive metrics, and provide research support for cross-marketing and targeting projects.
  • Follow law firm trends on client interfacing tools to create transparency and efficiencies.
  • Conduct research in support of cross-marketing, industry targeting, and competitive intelligence/benchmarking projects.
  • Understand client issues and work with business development to quantify them.
  • Align research with internal data to support differentiators; coordinate with business development to develop go-to-market materials.
  • Prepare and update memoranda on commonly encountered legal issues and developments for client alerts, podcasts, webinars, and other business development efforts.
  • Deliver market intelligence internally.
  • Attend conferences for knowledge management professionals, maintain a network of similar professionals, and stay abreast of news, developments, and best practices in the knowledge management profession.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong understanding of private equity transactions and relevant knowledge management and legal issues. Minimum 7 years of transactional experience required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in knowledge management systems and tools.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends.

Compensation 

In accordance with the Pay Transparency Law, in Massachusetts, the anticipated pay range for this position is $225,000 - $325,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, year-end bonus.
